2014 Genuss-Festival in Vienna’s Stadtpark

Enjoy regional cuisine – with all five senses

Already for the seventh time, the food and drink festival with the motto “The best of Austria in the capital city” is convening again in the spring of 2014. This year as well, Vienna’s Stadtpark offers the perfect setting for the Genussfestival – food and drink festival – to which Kulinarische Erbe Österreich (Culinary Heritage Austria) and the City of Vienna invite you. The purpose of the festival is to foster the rebirth of regional products and small manufacturers and to bring them closer to consumers. This is an event that I don’t want to miss out on this year…

The 2014 Mother’s Day weekend is once again the perfect time for the popular Genussfestival. From May 9 to 11, 2014, Austrian delicacies and gourmet foods will be on offer for purchase and tasting at over 170 stands and in tents. Gastronomically, visitors can indulge in reasonably priced classics from all of Austria’s federal provinces.

The pleasure-filled and successful event has an entirely deeper meaning: For over ten years, Das Kulinarische Erbe Österreich (Austria’s Culinary Heritage) has been gathering knowledge about traditional Austrian specialties, old recipes and agricultural raw products and treats that have been handed down for at least three generations and that continue to be consumed and produced today. For several years, the curatorship has implemented extremely successful measures in gastronomy and the press as well, intended to preserve for future generations Austria’s culinary heritage and the appertaining structures that have developed around it (quote from Kulinarisches Erbe Österreich – http://www.kulinarisches-erbe.at/index.php?id=89).

New at the 2014 Genussfestival

A marmalade making show, an appearance by the double grill world champion Adi Matzek, Pinzgauer Cattle delicacies, sallow thorn specialties and product innovations such as Mostsecco, plum vinegar, safflower salt, apricot and blue poppy marmalade, and lots more.

Schedule your day of indulgence now – also an ideal Mother’s Day getaway!
