VieVinum from June 4 – 6, 2016 at Vienna Hofburg

Already eagerly anticipated amongst wine lovers, the VieVinum, no doubt our country’s largest and most important wine trade show, will once again take place in the Vienna Hofburg Palace from June 4 – 6, 2016. Every other year, the wine country of Austria creates the perfect setting for this wine event extraordinaire. More than 500 exhibitors and vintners from Austria and neighboring countries offer their best wines for tasting. If 2014 is any indication, the organizers can again look forward to around 15,000 visitors from around the world. There are several innovations and optimizations for the event’s 10th anniversary. The announcements trigger high expectations and eager anticipation, which they say is the purest form of pleasure.

Innovations at VieVinum 2016

Elegance and clarity are the focal points for the new visual concept and stand design. Each room will get its own world of color that will also be continued in the catalog. Every stand will be presented with the stand number, the logo of the winery, the vineyard, any applicable consortium and a QR code. There won’t be any rollups this year, which is expected to improve the comprehensibility and available space significantly.

This year, the Austrian Wine Marketing (AWMB) organization will oversee the press center in the gourmet tent in front of the Hofburg Palace. This means there will be more space for the vintners and thereby more tasting comfort thanks to a more relaxed arrangement of the stands.

Culinary trends are also on full display. Street food has recently taken Europe’s gourmets by storm. At VieVinum 2016, food trucks with multifaceted culinary delicacies on offer will cater to visitors’ and exhibitors’ physical well-being, for consumption on the (partly covered) terrace of the gourmet tent.

Top wines and vintners – as far as the eye can see…

Among the 500 exhibitors in total, around 400 stands are reserved for domestic vintners – the “Who’s Who” of the Austrian wine scene will present Austria’s top wines. Amongst international vintners, the Verein Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP, an organization of Germany’s top wineries), with 15 exhibitors, will take the most prominent spot.

Vintners from eastern and southeastern Europe, described as “New Europe” at the trade show, will also set an example by bringing new discoveries to VieVinum. France, Portugal and South Tyrol will again also be increasingly represented in 2016. Numerous smaller groups of vintners from European countries and overseas will make for additional variety.

A general program from A to Z

Taste and acquaint yourself with new wines – this is possible in many different ways at VieVinum. While the vintners at the exhibition stands will provide information about their wines directly, the general program offers a highly varied selection of theme tastings with commentary and various lectures. Early registration is recommended. The registration deadline is June 1, 2016.

Even more…

In the Falstaff Lounge, wine experts, including Falstaff editor-in-chief Peter Moser, will present wine tastings with commentary and wine seminars. Around 50 vintners from Germany and Italy will be represented in the lounge with their best wines.

Natural wine, orange wine, biodynamic and organically produced wines lie at the focus of Wein & Co.  .

Schlumberger will add sparkle to the sparkling wine bar with its in-house selection. To maintain an “alert mind,” Lavazza will serve fine coffee specialties in its eponymous lounge (in collaboration with A La Carte magazine). The CULTURBrauer (an organization of Austrian craft breweries) will offer good beer for digestion (or simply for a change of pace) in a dedicated tasting tent directly in front of the Hofburg. Finally, Genuss Region Österreich (an organization dedicated to the culinary/gourmet region Austria) will this year focus on the topic of Most, cider and similar beverages.
