Looking Good
Occupation and hobby united
Combining my occupation as director of the Schick Hotels with my photography hobby has long been a desire of mine. Now it’s possible via our blog. A photographer always sees a city with different eyes. Here, I show you how I see our hometown of Vienna through my eyes.
My first photos for this blog show Vienna from my favorite perspective—from above. With its terraces and balconies above the rooftops of Vienna, our Hotel Am Parkring directly in the city center naturally offers the ideal prerequisites for apturing the city from above. During any season, at any point of the compass, a wonderful motive—be it St. Stephan’s Cathedral, the Riesenrad, Giant Ferris wheel, the Danube Tower, or even the Schneeberg in the Alps on clear days—is always guaranteed.
Photographing the Danube Canal proved to be somewhat more difficult. For this photo, I scaled the roof of the building in which our Hotel Capricorno is located on the lower floors. With my camera bag and tripod in tote (for me, indispensable for a truly good photo), up a steep ladder and through a narrow doorway… for this view it was all worth it.
