At the Messe Wien for the third time

This year, I’ve already reserved this date so I don’t miss Austria’s largest cooking and lifestyle fair. COOK & LOOK will take place for the third time at Mess Wien, Hall B, from January 10–13, 2013. Last year there were more than 151,000 visitors who didn’t want to miss the luxurious event. For 2013, even more visitors are expected, particularly given that COOK & LOOK will again be embedded into the Ferien-Messe Wien (holidays, travel, leisure and tourism trade show) and the Vienna Autoshow – we can therefore expect a strong trade show weekend.

At COOK & LOOK, the main themes of ambiance and accessories, cutlery and tableware, organic products and fresh food and drink from farms, breweries and wine presses, cocktails, gourmet literature and cooking journals, coffee, tea and cocoa, kitchen aids and devices, kitchen and dining room furniture, mineral waters and juices, aliments and luxury foods, chocolate and confectionary, as well as wines and distillates, are all presented under this motto. Like in recent years, regionality is the culinary focal point in 2013 as well.

Here’s what the Minister of Agriculture, Niki Berlakovich, had to say: “Cooking with regional foods is very popular among Austrians, since the products from the region are satisfying in their origin, freshness, short transport distances and unmistakable taste. In my initiative Genuss Region Österreich, not only is the new desire for taste and good, healthy food taken up, but the qualities, regionality, seasonality and freshness of the products are also the main focal points. Trade and industry, gastronomy and tourism profit more and more from this Austrian trend with each passing year. Genuss Region Österreich will be represented by numerous producers from Lake Neusiedl to Lake Constance. Additional strong partners are SPAR Austria, Kellogg Austria, BÖG and GUSTO or NEWS Verlag, respectively.

Yet that’s hardly enough….

Rattle those pots and pans…. Ready – GO!

A very special extra at COOK & LOOK is the live cooking shows, in which not only top Austrian chefs such as Hans Peter Fink, Toni Mörwald and several more will cook – this year, the 1989 GaultMillau Chef of the Year will also surely attract a large fan base – Alfons Schuhbeck, Bavarian doyen and prominent representative of regional cuisine and products, will peer into the pots.

Additional highlights: Sascha Walleczek with healthy and modern cuisine, as well as Franz Meissl / Coolinarisch – cooking magnificently with children and youth.

This will be a superlative, pleasurable weekend, one which you should definitely reserve and make note of.
