2015 “Genussfestival” in Vienna’s Stadtpark
The very best from Austria
This is the slogan for this year’s “Genussfestival”—a gourmet festival—which takes place for the eighth time in Vienna’s Stadtpark, near the Schick Hotel Am Parkring. At over 180 stands, the highest-quality manufactory products from Austria will be presented and, moreover, visitors indulged with small dishes from the various regions of Austria. For me, this is an event that’s not to be missed this year…
The culinary festival in Vienna’s Stadtpark enters its 8th round
Mother’s Day weekend 2015 once again offers the perfect time for the popular “Genussfestival.” From May 8 to 10, 2015, Austrian delicacies and gourmet foods will be offered for purchase and consumption at more than 180 stands. Visitors can indulge in samples from all of Austria’s provinces, while a renowned Austrian sparkling wine manufacturer, a Viennese premium beer brand and others offer accompanying drinks.
In the tent this year, it’s also all about tasting, enjoying and learning directly from the producers. A comprehensive organic product range is presented on 200 m2 of space, and at the dairy bar farmers offer numerous samples or are available for personal discussions. In addition, a chef conjures up tasty delicacies. Eggs are on the menu, as are beef, chicken and regional vegetables and herb specialties. What’s more, organic bakers reveal how sourdough is made according to traditional knowledge and the steps involved in turning sourdough into organic bread. In addition to ongoing samples for tasting, farming producers invite visitors to discussions at the “green table.”
Additional highlights
For the first time, the Raiffeisen Climate Protection Initiative, in collaboration with the Culinary Heritage of Austria, will award the 2015 RKI-KULINARIK-PREIS (RKI Culinary Award).
The Genussfestival is made possible thanks to collaborations with Zurück zum Ursprung, the Raiffeisen Climate Change Initiative, the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Agrarmarkt Austria Marketing, Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, and others.
Tip: First fill your baskets, then enjoy. For the first time, there will be a picnic relaxation zone this year so that visitors can not only immediately enjoy the gourmet products on offer, they can also experience the most beautiful side of spring in Stadtpark.
