Regional Enjoyment in the Heart of the City

What would the Mother’s Day weekend be without the Genuss-Festival (Culinary Festival) which this year takes place from 11th to 13th May 2018 in Vienna’s Stadtpark. Austrian top producers and exhibitors present their products at more than 190 sales stands. Extensive tasting is desired, you may also like to buy the specialties and take home the pleasure. These delicacies are often perfect as a Mother’s Day gift or – even better – walk through the Stadtpark with your mom and immerse yourself in the world of enjoyment together.

Feasting and Amazement in the Federal Capital

Every year in spring Vienna’s Stadtpark is transformed into a paradise for connoisseurs: More than 190 exhibitors will be presenting their specialities from all over Austria at the Genuss-Festival from 11th to 13thMay 2018. The gourmet variety ranges from Mangalitsa pork bacon, spiced bread from the organic farm bakery and Carinthian garlic, to mountain cheese from the Alpbachtal, millstone salami from Upper Austria and Wachau saffron to Waldviertel potato noodles with poppy-seeds and much more. Interesting culinary novelties, such as lavender egg liqueur, carp bratwurst, Nockberger Zirbenwursts (pine sausage), Uhudler jelly, Wiener Würze (Viennese condiment), runner bean chili, smoked char in a glass etc. invite you to get to know them. Fine brandies, liqueurs, Viennese beer, Styrian Schilcher wine, as well as homemade confectionery or pastries to try and buy complement the offer.

New this year: a tasting and sales stand of a local coffee roaster as an important piece of Viennese tradition.

Also new in 2018: Exhibitors such as Bioregion Mühlviertel (organic region) or Schloss Hof, which will advertise its exhibition “Warum isst die Welt, wie sie isst?“ (Why does the world eat the way it eats?). In addition, the Austrian Association of Chefs pampers visitors with hot dishes such as “Pongauer Blattlkrapfen”.

For the first time, the Raiffeisen Sustainability Initiative, in cooperation with the Committee for the Preservation of Culinary Heritage of Austria (Kulinarisches Erbe Österreich), grants the “Produkt-Award 2018 der Raiffeisen Nachhaltigkeits-Initiative (Product Award 2018 of the Raiffeisen Sustainability Initiative)”. All exhibitors of the Genuss-Festival were invited to submit their respective products. Something to be curious about!

Austria’s largest culinary festival is organised by the Board of Trustees Culinary Heritage Austria and stadt wien marketing. It is made possible by cooperation with Zurück zum Ursprung, Stadt Wien, Agrarmarkt Austria, Raiffeisen Sustainability Initiative, Wien zu Fuß, ÖBB, Wien Holding, Casinos Austria, Römerquelle, Ottakringer, Gusto, Kattus and many more.

TIPP: If you want to enjoy the Genuss-Festival to the fullest for three days, you best use the weekend for a trip to Vienna. This also offers the opportunity to plan a visit to a Viennese landmark, a theatre or something similar. The teams of the Schick Hotels Vienna are looking forward to welcoming and pampering you in the federal capital with Viennese charm.
