Soon it will be time. From 9th to 11th June 2018, the VieVinum, Austria’s largest and most important wine fair, opens its doors again, surrounded by the magnificent ambience of the Vienna Hofburg. In 2018 more than 500 exhibitors and winegrowers from Austria and the neighbouring countries present their best wines and invite you to taste them. With guest country Switzerland, a small but extremely diverse wine country has been brought on board – highly exciting for wine lovers who are looking for something special and unique. In addition, a jubilee will be celebrated.
20 Years of VieVinum
Anyone who has been successful in the world of trade fairs and exhibitions for so long must obviously have something to offer. With its 20th anniversary, VieVinum clearly stands out as Austria’s flagship wine festival. What started in 1998 with a test balloon became the international festival of Austrian wine, which takes place every two years. It can rightly be said that wine history was written here.
From the beginning the trade fair organiser M.A.C. Hoffmann and the Austria Wine Marketing Board (AWMB) have been equally involved with competence and innovation in the rise and success of the VieVinum as a successful wine festival, professional, enduring and hospitable.
Top Winemakers and Top Wines
Of the more than 550 stands in total, around 500 places are reserved for local winemakers – the elite of the Austrian wine scene will do themselves the honour of presenting their finest wines, and in keeping with the anniversary year, the Austrian wine industry has a real ace up its sleeve (or a whole lot of…) with the extremely pleasing 2017 vintage.
With indigenous grape varieties and their idiosyncratic wine characteristics, Swiss winegrowers are causing a worldwide sensation. Swiss wine is also in demand on the Austrian market as a popular brand. It is therefore all the more gratifying that VieVinum on its 20th anniversary may welcome some of the best Swiss winemakers as part of the guest country appearance.

A Supporting Programme that pulls out all the Stops
Tasting and getting information – this is possible in many different ways at VieVinum. While the winegrowers provide direct information about their wines at the stands, the supporting programme offers a highly varied range of commented themed wine tastings and various lectures. Early registration is strongly recommended.

Falstaff brings top wineries from Italy and Germany to Vienna again. The winemakers personally present their wines in the “winter garden” of the Vienna Hofburg. The Falstaff Tasting Lounge in the “Geheime Ratsstube” attracts with exciting tastings.
WEIN & CO is picking up on a theme that has become consistently trendy by now. In the WEIN & CO Lounge, it focuses on natural wines, orange wines, amphora wines and biodynamically and organically produced wines.
The sparkling wine producer Schlumberger is a partner of VieVinum as an exhibitor at the Hofburg in Vienna. They also cater the guests of honour with the best Austrian sparkling wine. At the “Platzl” at the entrance to the vestibule and side gallery, Schlumberger invites you to taste the latest products and vintages at their sparkling wine bar.
A good cup of coffee is also part of the complete enjoyment experience. In cooperation with the magazine A la Carte, the finest coffee specialities will be served at the Lavazza Lounge. And good beer should definitely not be missing. This is exactly what CULTURbrauer offers in its own tasting tent directly in front of the Hofburg.
VieVinum Menu 2018 at Restaurant “Das Schick”
In addition to other services for visitors such as hotel and travel tips, selected restaurants and wine taverns will in 2018 again be offering a VieVinum menu dedicated to a specific wine theme for at least a week in advance. Guests enjoying this menu receive a voucher for reduced admission to the VieVinum.
Of course it is a special honour for us to participate in the event during the anniversary year with restaurant “Das Schick” as partner restaurant. The teams from the kitchen and the service have come up with a delicious cross-national menu with equally delicious first-class wine accompaniment under the motto “With a view to Austrian-Spanish enjoyment above the rooftops of Vienna”.
