Music Festivals in Vienna
In autumn 2019, Vienna will become the music festival capital of the world.
Music and Vienna definitely belong together. The spectrum on offer is incredibly broad. Thousands of visitors come to Vienna for some music festivals, others are especially suitable for individualists and those who like to try something new. Music festivals give you the opportunity to experience a wide variety of performances within a genre.
It all starts with “Wien Modern”, the festival of contemporary music. From October 30th to November 30th, 2019, various venues will be offering audiences sound experiences unlike any other. Under the title “Growth”, Wien Modern presents 100 events at 24 venues in 12 districts of Vienna. The shortest concert lasts just 20 minutes. The longest concert starts before sunrise and ends after sunset.
The venues include the Alte Schmiede, Café Korb, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Minoritenkirche, MUK.theater, Musikverein, Austrian National Library and Ruprechtskirche to name just the locations in the 1st district.
You can order your tickets online here. A “General Pass” is also available, which offers access to almost every festival production.
Vienna Jazz Floor
From November 1st to the 30th, 2019 the air will be filled with jazz. At the “Vienna Jazz Floor”, Viennese jazz clubs will delight fans with a full program of the finest jazz for the entire month.
KlezMore Festival Vienna
Jewish world music in traditional and contemporary interpretations will be performed in clubs, cafes and theaters from November 7th to 24th, 2019 at the “KlezMore Festival Vienna”. On November 7th, a preview concert will start at the Vindobona in homage to Leonard Cohen. The actual festival opening in Porgy and Bess (November 9th), will feature world-famous, Grammy-winning Klezmer superstars.
The program is rounded out with readings and silent film classics with live recordings for young and old alike.
It is all about the pure human voice at “Voice Mania”, from November 8th to December 1st, 2019. The fact that the voice is probably the most versatile instrument of all is proven by approximately 30 soloists and ensembles from 13 countries at this popular a cappella festival. The venues are the Theater am Spittelberg, Metropol and MuTh.
For the kick-off on November 8th, artists will sing, rock and groove on the city’s balconies with music ranging from rock & swing to pop & jazz all the way to gospel & soul. Admission to this unique event known as “Balcanto” is free. Starting at 2:00 p.m. at Michaelerplatz, Kohlmarkt, Graben and in Bräunerstraße. A capella to go provides the perfect vocal accompaniment on Graben to further excite the audience for Voice Mania.
