In autumn 2019, Vienna will become the music festival capital of the world.

Music and Vienna definitely belong together. The spectrum on offer is incredibly broad. Thousands of visitors come to Vienna for some music festivals, others are especially suitable for individualists and those who like to try something new. Music festivals give you the opportunity to experience a wide variety of performances within a genre.

It all starts with “Wien Modern”, the festival of contemporary music. From October 30th to November 30th, 2019, various venues will be offering audiences sound experiences unlike any other. It is all about the pure human voice at “Voice Mania”, from November 8th to December 1st, 2019. The fact that the voice is probably the most versatile instrument of all is proven by approximately 30 soloists and ensembles from 13 countries at this popular a cappella festival. The venues are the Theater am Spittelberg, Metropol and MuTh.

For the kick-off on November 8th, artists will sing, rock and groove on the city’s balconies with music ranging from rock & swing to pop & jazz all the way to gospel & soul. Admission to this unique event known as “Balcanto” is free. Starting at 2:00 p.m. at Michaelerplatz, Kohlmarkt, Graben and in Bräunerstraße. A capella to go provides the perfect vocal accompaniment on Graben to further excite the audience for Voice Mania.

Upcoming Music Festivals in Vienna 2020

Still want to hear more? After a Christmas break, another music festival will start in January (Jan. 18th – 26th, 2020). “Resonanzen”, the festival of early music in the Wiener Konzerthaus, presents top-class ensembles and delights with rarities by medieval and baroque composers.
