A culinary journey through all of Austria

As is now customary, the Genuss-Festival (“Culinary Festival”) will once again take place this year on Mothers’ Day Weekend in the Vienna Stadtpark. The Board of Trustees for Austrian Culinary Heritage (Kulinarisches Erbe Österreich) and stadt wien marketing warmly invite you to participate in this premier event for connoisseurs from 10 to 12 May 2019, with the event already in its 12th year. Top Austrian producers and exhibitors will be presenting their creations and giving you the opportunity to sample their wares, while you are of course more than welcome to purchase the specialties and take the culinary delights on offer back home with you. You’ll definitely find the perfect Mothers’ Day gift here, or even better, take a stroll with your mom through the Stadtpark and dive into a world of enjoyment together.

Each year in spring, the Vienna Stadtpark is transformed into a hotspot for gourmets. Besides classic regional specialties such as Carinthian Reindling (a type of cake), Innviertler Surspeck (cured bacon from the Inn Quarter), Uhudler wine from Burgenland, Schilcher grape juice, and Alpine cheese from the Bregenz forest, there will again be creative and exceptional delicacies such as fenugreek cheese, greaves pesto, Alpine caviar, Isabella grape mousse, preserved poppy seed noodles and cranberry black pudding.

The Vienna Genuss-Festival also stands for authenticity and traditional, artisanal methods of production that the exhibitors will be more than happy to tell you about at the event.

It is not only specially invited manufactories that will be present at the Genuss-Festival. Culinary experts from all over the country as well as the Austrian Association of Chefs will be serving freshly prepared, regional dishes such as Tyrolean Gröstl (grilled potatoes), Vorarlberg Käsknöpfle (cheese noodles), Gailtal meat noodles, braised cheek of pork, and Burgenland cabbage strudel.

The Genuss-Festival, which is organized by the Board of Trustees for Austrian Culinary Heritage and stadt wien marketing, is made possible through cooperation with Stadt Wien, the Austrian Association of Regional Culinary Arts, Zillertal Tourismus GmbH (Ltd.), the Raiffeisen Climate Protection Initiative, the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways), Agrarmarkt Austria Marketing, Neuburger GmbH (Ltd.), Münze Österreich (the Austrian Mint), Radio Wien, Casinos Austria, Römerquelle, the Ottakring Brewery, the Vienna Economic Chamber, the Kattus Champagne Cellars, Wien zu Fuß (Vienna by Foot), Kronen Zeitung, and many others. This collaboration between agriculture, direct marketing, manufacturers and gastronomy is exemplary and receives support from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism as well as rural development funds.
